How do I obtain a library card ?
Visit the Circulation Desk at the Library with a form of ID such as a driver's license. We will create your CLAMS card while you wait.
How long can I keep a book or video tape?
The loan period for most books is two weeks, and may be renewed for additional
loan periods unless reserved by another patron.
Video tapes circulate for one week.
How can I renew a book?
Books may be renewed in person, online (through CLAMS) or by phone. To reserve or renew a book online through CLAMS, you will need your CLAMS card pin number to set up or access your individual account.
What if my book is overdue?
An overdue donation is requested for books not returned within the loan or renewal period ... 10 cents a day for adults and children.
What is CLAMS?
The Library is part of the CAPE LIBRARIES AUTOMATED MATERIALS SHARING system, commonly known by its acronym, CLAMS.
What can I do with CLAMS?
- Search the collections of all CLAMS libraries on Cape Cod and the Islands.
- Determine the location and availability of items you need.
- Reserve items to be delivered to the library of your choice.
- Check on the status of items that you have requested, or have on loan.
What do I need to access CLAMS?
In order to access CLAMS it is necessary to be a registered library user. Your patron number, and PIIN (Personal Item Identification Number) may be obtained at any member library. Obtaining your card requires that you present some identification such as a drivers license.
What else can I do with CLAMS?
The CLAMS system also provides on line connection to other Massachusetts public and academic libraries and a periodical retrieval system:
- Access to the basic collection of 148 full text newspapers including the Boston Globe and Boston Herald.
- Access to books in print with reviews; books out of print; Hoover's company capsules and profiles.
- Access to selected databases for more than 150 full text newspapers, magazines, classic books, and major works of literature, art, maps and photographs.
- Access to the INFOTRAC databases including Contemporary Authors; Contemporary Literary Criticism; General Reference Center; Health Reference Center, etc.
- Access by the Southeastern Massachusetts Library System to SIRS Researcher (Magazine Index and Articles) and Discoverer (Topics for elementary and middle school students). SIRS has thousands of full text articles, documents and graphics on a wide range of topics.
