MassAnswers

"A Librarian is waiting for your question!
Every Day - All Day - All Night"

www.massanswers.org
MassAnswers is a cooperative project of the Boston Public Library and nine Regional Reference Center libraries in Massachusetts that have joined with the nation-wide 24/7 Reference Collaborative. This innovative service lets you ask questions and get answers in "real time." Once you connect, you will "chat" with skilled reference librarians by typing in questions that are read and answered in "real time." Using most browsers, the librarian will be able to show you what he or she brings up on the screen and sends the information right to your computer. At the end of the session you will receive a transcript via e-mail. This will include the written record of the "chat" conversation plus the URL’s of all web sites visited.

The collaborative was initially funded by a two-year grant using federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds administered through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. In the first full year 14,527 questions were answered. Even though the grant period ended in 2004, MassAnswers continues as a statewide virtual reference service providing the citizens of Massachusetts with the means of accessing reference librarians 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

TRY IT OUT!! Ask a question.
